Hand luggage security regulations

A new EU regulation governing the carriage of liquids in hand luggage as well as the maximum dimensions of hand luggage entered into force in November 2006. The carriage of liquids was highly restricted on all flights leaving from Innsbruck Airport and from airports within the EU area as well as from Norway, Switzerland and Iceland.

Passengers are asked to note the following:

• Liquids, creams, pastes, gels, aerosols, food etc. may not exceed the maximum quantity of 100ml per container and must be carried together in a transparent and resealable plastic bag. The plastic bag must be closed and carried through security separately from the hand luggage. Only one plastic bag not exceeding the maximum quantity of 1l is allowed per passenger. The plastic bag serves as a unit of measurement and may be reopened after security.

• The following items will be screened separately at security control:
- the transparent plastic bac containing items with a maximum quantity of 100ml each
- laptops
- electronic devices (MP3-players, mobile phones etc.)
- jackets and coats

• Medicines, baby and special food (medical dietary food) needed onboard during the flight may be carried outside the plastic bag. Passengers are required to hold a medical certificate or a prescription made out in their name for medicines and dietary products.

• Items purchased at Innsbruck Airport`s Duty Free & Travel Value Shop (after security control) or on board EU airlines are exempt from quantitative restrictions. However, please observe the applicable customs regulations.

• Passengers are requested to prepare the proper packaging of liquids already at home in order to keep delays to a minimum.
