'ILUG' - Innsbrucker Luftfrachtumschlaggesellschaft m.b.H. is a 100% subsidiary company of Innsbruck Airport.
Traffic links are essential in the positive development of economic areas. Its central location in the west of Austria makes Innsbruck Airport an ideal hub for air freight not only for Tyrol but also for Vorarlberg, Northern Italy and Southern Germany. Being a regional airport with excellent flight connections, Innsbruck serves as an ideal starting and end point for your air cargo. Air freight is not handled via the take-off and landing runway alone, however. In order to satisfy the demand for transport capacity, the major airlines operate substitute ground transportation from and to Innsbruck. The lorries run like aircraft on the motorway and can be loaded with container units as in a wide-bodied aircraft, allowing for a reduction of transit traffic. It is not necessary for every single forwarding agent to serve the big transit airports with their own lorries as air cargo can be delivered straight to Innsbruck Airport for loading.
In order to handle the increasing number of air cargo shipments in both export and import a new air freight terminal was opened in 1994 at Innsbruck Airport. At the same time ILUG took over cargo handling as a neutral partner for all parties. As well as loading the freight on the aircraft of domestic airlines, the ILUG specialists also transfer cargo to aircraft loading containers and thus to alternative ground transportation. Thanks to state-of-the-art handling equipment and efficient staff, ILUG is able to handle shipping units which are then reloaded straight onto wide-bodied aircraft at transit airports such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam or Zurich. Reloading times are thus cut down and the risk of loss or damage is minimized. Time ist money in the air freight business. Therefore Innsbruck is the ideal handling airport. The personal commitment shown by the ILUG staff ensures the fastest possible yet careful handling of your air cargo. Modern IT systems support operations and contribute to a speedy delivery of the cargo to the recipient. Continuous training ensures that our staff are able to meet the latest requirements of the airlines and gives them the know-how to properly load even specialized cargo.
